Let's do this!!
Welcome to my blog page. This is my very first ever blog! Exciting! But don't worry, this is the first of many many many blogs to come and I will be covering many many many different topics that all have to do with House & Interior Design and House Renovations as well as DIY and Home Decor. I am looking forward to sharing my passion for house design, construction, styling and decorating with all of you and I hope you are going to enjoy reading what I am writing about!
Designing a house and turning it into a home is an incredibly rewarding experience. Obviously you will have to make sure you take your time, do your research and put in the hours to really think about what you want out of this building, BUT you'll be amazing with what you can achieve. Not only is it crazy to see a simple drawing you made on paper being turned into a house, it is also fun to start thinking about what you can do to this house to make it a home for you and your family. Looking back at my own first building project (with that I mean building our own house), I found that it felt as if my identity and personality were simply staring me in the face with a big fat grin! You probably know the one I am talking about, it's very similar to that cute and guilty yet satisfied "YEP, I DID THAT ALL BY MYSELF - face" a dog can give you after it has destroyed its bed...! Anyway, that is a story for another time/blog. Actually, I think I have multiple stories about that!!
Besides house design and construction fun, there is also a lot of joy in decorating and DIY.
If you'd like to save some money during construction and you don't mind a bit of DIY, I would recommend doing some of the internal work yourself. NOT, any of the structural or dangerous thingy's like electricals though! You wouldn't want to lose any good structural warranties on on your new home!
I was more talking about things like laying your own wooden floor or perhaps making your own Kitchen Pantry or Walk - In - Wardrobe?
When my partner Steve and I built our house in 2016, we did a lot of great and unique things around the house. We saved a fair bit of cash just doing many things ourselves which would have cost a lot more if we hired someone do it for us. It has been great fun so far and I will tell you all about our experiences in my upcoming blog posts! I promise!!
There are so many cool, fun and cost-saving things you can do to get a completely unique home that simply reflects your personality, lifestyle and taste.
Don't ever be afraid to give your ideas a go!
Through my blog I will share with you, all the neat tips, tricks and stories I have accumulated over the past years regarding both House & Interior Design as well as Renovations, DIY and Home Decor.
At the beginning of 2018 I started an Interior Design course with The Interior Design Institute. So far I am really enjoying my journey with them and in my upcoming blogs I will incorporate how the things I have learned through their course, have expanded my knowledge and improved my skills.
I feel like I could just ramble on for a fair while longer but I don't want to have all I have to tell you already out there in my first blog! So, for now... I will wrap things up in a pretty package, put a bow on it and add this little story to my blog page.
My next blog will be here soon and I will be talking about some of the good and bad things I came across while designing the floor plan for our house.
Thank you for reading my blog, hopefully you will enjoy this creative journey with me. :-)
